SPARTA - Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church on Westport Rd. will hold its 13th annual flea market and “garageless” garage sale Saturday, May 9 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. “The annual flea market gives the church an opportunity to fund some very important local social causes that are normally not budgeted for,” said Kevin Pollison, event coordinator. “Especially in these tough economic times we all need to help those less fortunate.” Proceeds from the sale will go to support the Samaritan Inn Homeless Shelter in Sussex and the Dover Faith Soup Kitchen in Dover. A “preview” sale will be held on Friday, May 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., where there will be no discounting of goods. Larger items will be marked with a $5, $10 or $20 sticker. All other items are “fill a bag for $5.” Community members are welcome to sell their own items. Spaces are $15 and the church will provide a table for an additional $5. Spaces are limited this year, and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis. Sellers are asked to contact the church at 973-729-7010, or via e-mail at shepherdofthehills@earthlink.net to get a registration form. Payment is due prior to the event.
