SPARTA — Five local restaurants have agreed to donate 10 percent of their proceeds from Tuesday, May 19 to Sparta High School “Project Graduation” as part of its “Dining to Donate” fundraiser. Restaurants are: Casa Mia, Krogh’s, Papa Roni’s, Villa Capri and Village Saloon. Project Graduation is an event where Sparta High School Seniors get their diplomas and then get aboard buses headed for a night of drug-free and alcohol-free fun. The all-night event is intended to protect Sparta students from motor vehicle accidents by providing “a cool alternative to reckless behavior that is all too common on graduation night,” said event officials. Last year, more than 80 percent of seniors attended. Last fall, “Dining to Donate” raised over $1,000 for Project Graduation. The event was so well-received by diners and restaurant owners alike, it’s returning to help fund the festivities once again. “For the community it’s a chance to dine out - on a weeknight - while giving back to the local students,” said planners. “Casa Mia is proud to participate in the Project Graduation ‘Dining to Donate’ fundraiser, said owner Mike Pugliese. “It feels great to give back to the children of Sparta. We invite everyone join us in supporting this wonderful cause.” “Dining to Donate” includes lunch, dinner or take out on May 19. Restaurant owners recommend making reservations in advance (or calling in take out orders early).
