Groove to sixties music at SCCC

Newton — Sussex County Community College, in conjunction with its theatre group “Before Our Time,” will sponsor “The Summer of 09: A Celebration of Sixties Music,” Friday and Saturday, Aug. 7 and 8 at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Aug. 9 at 2 p.m. in the Lakeland Bank Pavilion on Connor Green. Under the direction of Peter Lubrecht, the concerts will celebrate the music of the 1960s including rock, folk and popular music. “Before Our Time,” consisting of SCCC students, alumni and friends, was formed last summer when the first scholarship concert “Hillbilly Heaven: An Ode to the Opry” was held. All proceeds benefit memorial scholarships established by SCCC faculty and staff. In case of inclement weather, the concerts will move indoors to the Performing Arts Center.
