Growers offer heirloom tomato varieties for sale

LAFAYETTE — Susan and Richard Sisti of Catalpa Ridge Farm will be selling some 90 varieties of heirloom tomatoes at their seventh annual heirloom tomato transplant sale at Olde Lafayette Village May 23 and 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a large variety of Heirloom tomato plants offered as well as a limited offering of some Heritage hybrid varieties, the most famous of which is the Ramapo Tomato. This variety was known as the “true Jersey tomato” 30 years ago and has not been commercially available for years, according to the Sistis. The Sistis will also be offering the Moreton variety, often referred to as the 4th of July tomato. In addition, they will be selling a selection of herb, eggplant, squash, cucumber, artichokes and pepper plants.
