Lenape drum and dance at Pow Wow

Vernon The third annual Black Creek Site Celebration and Pow Wow will be held Sunday, Sept. 27, at Maple Grange Park, in Vernon, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (The rain date will be Oct. 4.) This year’s event will again feature continuous American Indian dancing and regalia, historic presentations by Lenape Lifeways and foods by Sly Fox Den. There will also be jewelry, arts and crafts, storytelling, guided tours of the historic site, live wolves and other animal presentations and archaeological displays. The highlight of the event will be the Lenape drum and dance in full regalia, featuring the Red Blanket Drum Corps of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indians of Bridgeton. There is a suggested donation of $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens. Children under five are admitted free of charge. No one will be turned away. There is free on-site parking for the event. There is a $25 fee for vendors. Non-profits are $15. The last date for vendor registration is Friday, Sept. 25 by 9 p.m. Call the Society at 973-764-8554 to register.
