WARWICK, N.Y. — Baby Grand Books is holding registration for summer classes, which begin Saturday, June 20, at the newly formed College of Poetry at 7 West St. in Warwick, N.Y. Organizers said the college “aims to be a magnet for anyone who has a passion for reading and writing poetry, offering guest poets a sanctuary for exploring and discovering a world of poetry.” Instructors William Seaton and Robert Milby will conduct and facilitate workshops. In addition to the workshop series, participants will have an opportunity to publish their works in an anthology and be part of the weekly “poetry open mic” that takes place at 4 p.m., every Saturday. Baby Grand Books is beefing up its presence in the world of poetry as it seeks to extend its monthly poetry reading series, currently hosted by Poetry on the Loose, to a weekly series. It will involve more poets throughout the area including poetry hosts Robert Milby, Mary Makofske and Donna Spector. “People want to express themselves, said Steve Calitri, Baby Grand owner. “They want to be part of a real community where they can interact and share something of themselves. Poetry is such a vehicle.” For more information, call 845-986-6165, e-mail gavin@babygrandbooks.com. For more information about the new College of Poetry, go www.collegeofpoetry.com.
