Local artists performing at Methodist Church
Newfoundland Local artists will perform at the United Methodist Church at Newfoundland on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. The church is located at 65 LaRue Road in Newfoundland. A silent auction will start at 6:30 p.m. Some of the artists scheduled to perform are: Jason Roe, a senior at Nyack College majoring in church music with a focus in voice. Roe plays guitar with the Worship Team at Living Word Church; the Dan Hubbard Bluegrass Band - country and bluegrass music with vocal harmonies backed by banjo, guitar and mandolin; the YY Sisters, who perform Armenian traditional classical music. Of the YY Sisters, critics have said, the group’s unique vocal styles and sensitivities create stirring music that is both exclusively Armenian and broadly human. Several other local artists will also perform to make this an unforgettable evening for everyone. Event organizer Maureen Quinones said, “Our church has wonderful music programs including both vocal and hand-bell choirs, so organizing a benefit concert seemed like a natural fit. There are many talented local artists in our area, and we thought this would be a perfect venue for them to perform. This provides our community the opportunity to experience these artists and enjoy an evening with family and friends.” Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for children under 12.
