Newton — A.R. Gurney’s “Love Letters,” presented by HerStory Productions, will be performed at Sussex County Community College on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Written in 1989 by Gurney, the play features a two-character cast who read side by side at a desk. The characters are a man and woman who exchange letters in a warm and complicated friendship lasting 50 years. The cast includes Andrew Makepeace Ladd III, Melissa Gardner, Peter R. Nadolny, and Jeanne L. Austin. Austin is also the director of this production. HerStory Productions is a creative partnership formed by Austin and Nadolny when they began presenting melodramas based on historic women more than 20 years ago. Austin commissioned Nadolny to create a one-woman show for her, “Duty’s Faithful Child: A Visit With Louisa May Alcott.” Locally the pair has performed this play at McNiece Auditorium in Sparta, in conjunction with the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council. Tickets for “Love Letters” are $19.50 to $21.50 for the community and student tickets are $11.50. For tickets, call 973-300-3171 or visit www.sussex.edu.
