Lynn Sodora named new Director of Religious Education

NEWTON-The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Sussex County has named Lynn Sodora of Wantage as its new Director of Religious Education. "Lynn will bring special gifts to her work with our children," says Reverend Julie Newhall, consulting minister for the Fellowship.  "She has thoughtfully explored different religions, and she values the Unitarian Universalist principles of accepting and encouraging each other to search for truth and spiritual growth.  We encourage everyone to ask questions, young and old alike." In keeping with these values, the children at the Fellowship have visited nearby faith communities, including Christian churches, the Jain Center in Blairstown, the Bodhi Monastery in Andover, and the Jewish Center in Newton.  This year, the Fellowship's Religious Education program will take advantage of Lynn Sodora's interest in earth-based religions and pay special attention to Native American beliefs and practices. Unitarian Universalism is a quintessentially American faith tradition, with some 1,000 congregations around the country. It is a non-creedal, non-sacramental faith that encourages the use of reason, an ongoing search for truth and meaning, dedication to personal spiritual growth, and working for social justice and peace.
