Mini golf championship benefits Skatepark

VERNON — The Tree City Mini Golf Championship 2009 will take place on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 4 p.m., and proceeds will be donated to the Vernon Skatepark Memorial Organization. There will be prizes for the winners in the men’s, women’s and kids age 10 and under divisions as well as for the best costume. There is a $10 entry fee per participant, covering a game of mini golf and a raffle ticket for a chance to win a snowboard courtesy of VSMO. The winner of the snowboard will be announced at midnight. At 8 p.m., in conjunction with the tournament, organizers will host the U.S. premiere of the snowboard film, “They Came From.” The movie follows several riders on some of the most challenging mountains in Europe. Part of the film is shot in 3D. Immediately following the tourney, the film, and the winners’ announcements, there will be an after party at NYs Finest featuring: DJs, dancing, and a special live performance from STONE Boogy.
