The Pike County Historical Society will offer two outdoor concerts to raise money to offset the loss of income suffered due to the museum’s four-month closure due to COVID-19.

Seating will be limited to 25 people, socially distanced, on the front lawn and surrounding grounds of the museum. Bring your own lawn chair, wear a mask, and enjoy the music provided by The Little Big Band on Aug. 15, and Anthem Road Trio on Aug. 22. Both shows begin at 5 p.m.

The museum requests a $10 donation. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

The building, which houses the historical society and museum, has recently undergone rehabilitative construction on the porches, columns, and soffits through a grant provided by the Local Share Account, facilitated through Pike County Economic Development Authority. The much-needed repairs and restorations insure a better future for the building structurally, as the columns, porches, and soffits were in need of repair for quite some time.

The historical society invites one and all to “join us in celebrating our spiffy new porch!”

The Columns Museum is open throughout August from 1 to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. Face masks are required to visit the museum. Five guests will be allow entry at a time to properly practice social distancing. If you would like to schedule a tour or enjoy a private dinner on the veranda, call 570-296-8126 or email pikemuse@ptd.net.
