Myron Leski of Sparta has been selected by the Artists at the Mill gallery as February’s Artist of the Month. On display will be over 20 of Leski’s works. According to the artist, “I paint what I like, and what I like can be a dog, a cow, a bird, a barn or the countryside. The subject is not the important element, but rather how I can manipulate the paint to form a composition which speaks to the viewer in my own personal language of colors and brushwork.” Leski added, “I look for wedges of light and shade in my travels throughout the Sussex County countryside, and those become the inspiration for my next work of art.” Leski is a product of the Art Institute of Chicago, Montclair State University, and the Art Students League in New York. He taught history and art history for seven years, then became a Class “A” billboard painter. For the last 15 years he has worked exclusively as an artist, illustrator and photographer. His art will be on display through the month of February. The gallery is located above the Millside Café at the Lafayette Mill Antique Center just off Route 15 on Morris Farm Road in Lafayette. The grand opening gala will be Sunday, February 8 at 3 p.m., when the public will have the opportunity to meet and talk with Leski about his art and technical style.
