Vernon — Project Planet was formed recently by a panel of professionals, business owners, holistic practitioners and environmentalists who want to nudge young people into action. Their goals, according to Marie Presti, the group’s chairman, are “nurturing and mentoring young people to take the stand of being the change needed; to set forth actions for the greater good of our future in this planet and to be able to care for our natural environment.” Presti, whose business Lucid Spirit is located in Vernon, says it is the group’s “intent to instigate involvement at the high school level so they can be empowered to make a difference and mentor their younger peers within their school district. Project Planet’s vision is to create an environmental board represented by students, teachers, school staff and community. Our mission is to expand awareness by educating and challenging young people to have a connected involvement with their environment and community through their choices and action.” For more information, contact Presti at amlp@aol.com or www.holisticmentorshipnetwork.com.
