New neighbors event at church

Vernon — A “meet and greet” party to welcome new residents of the township will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church at 307 Route 94, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27. Light refreshments will be provided and there will be activities for children and young adults. The Welcome Mat Ministry of St. Thomas’ distributes baskets weekly to new residents of Vernon Township filled with useful information about bears, Township services, local businesses and area events. Other outreach work of the church include a Hiker Hostel for through-hikers on the Appalachian Trail, a food bank for the poor and participation in the Sussex County Interfaith Hospitality Network and the Harvest House soup kitchen. “We really love this community,” says ministry Chairman Richard Smiraldi. “We hope that this party will be a big welcome hug for the entire township.” For information call 973-764-7506 or visit at: www.st-thomas-vernon.org.
