Singing pirates take to the stage

    Sussex — “The Pirates of Penzance Jr.” is the musical show coming to Sussex Middle School on Tuesday, March 23, Wednesday, March 24 and Thursday March 25. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Based on the operetta “The Pirates of Penzance,” this tale, which is filled with upbeat songs, features a cast of student performers. It tells a story of Frederick, a young pirate who is indentured to be a pirate until his 21st birthday. Along his crazy adventures, Frederick meets a band of maidens, falls instantly in love with Mabel and then finds out that he must return to the pirates because he was born on Feb. 29 — leap day. Featured in the main the roles are: Spencer Arnold as Frederick; Samuel Morisson as the Pirate King; Doug Edsall as the Major General; Alex Helmer as Mabel; Nicole Lange as Ruth; Ashley Hohman as Edith; Allison Masson as Kate; Veronica Wask as Isabelle; Nathan Stillings as Samuel; James Lee and Sarah Meyer as The Sergeants.
