Smiling Rhino Theatre holding two auditions
Youth and adults needed for a duets showcase and Charlie Brown Pompton Lakes Come be a part of a unique entertainment experience. The Smiling Rhino Theatre is holding auditions for “Duets.” The production is comprised of songs, scenes, music, movement and dance. Performers will share the state with a peer and perform in front of a live audience. This is a great opportunity to showcase young talent. All young talent, ages 7 through 18, is strongly encouraged to audition regardless of talent level. Many acts will be backed and featured with an ensemble cast. Audition dates are Tuesday, Jan. 5, and Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, from 4 to 6 p.m. Kids should bring a headshot and resume, prepare a song in your vocal range and bring sheet music. Also, be prepared to read sides. Those interested in dance, be ready to cut the rug. The performance dates are Feb. 19, 20, 21, 2010. The theatre is also auditioning adults for “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” on Monday, Feb. 1 and Tuesday, Feb. 2 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Call backs will be on Wednesday, Feb. 3. If you’ve got great comedic timing and move well, this may be the show for you. Please prepare two up-tempo, comedic songs with sheet music in the correct key. Accompaniment will be provided. Also prepare a brief comedic monologue (less than one minute). You may be asked to read sides from the script. You may sing selections from the show. All ethnicities are encouraged to attend since there may be non-traditional casting. All roles are available. If you are called back please bring appropriate clothing in which to dance. Also bring a current resume and a headshot. This show will have a very intense and demanding rehearsal schedule with rehearsals starting Feb. 23. Performance dates are March 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, and 21, It will be directed by Broadway’s Chad Jason, with musical direction by Chick Barnes and choreography by Terese Opiela.
