Sparta books to host another signing

    SPARTA-From 5-7 p.m. on Nov. 5, Sparta Books will host a book signing for photographer/filmmaker Norman Seider. He has explored and photographed the remote areas portrayed in his book "Odyssey: Patagonia to Antarctica." "Odyssey..." was a seven-year project. Patagonia is the extreme southern portion of the South American continent. The book shows Patagonia's mountains, fjords, gorges, and plains, along with the unknown Antarctic and its islands. Seider claims the German Expressionist movement was a strong visual influence in his work as a photographer. He is a storyteller and treats each photograph as an opening scene through which one can explore personal experiences, feelings and emotions. He is a still photographer, Emeritus Professor of Film at Long Island University, and a Lake Owassa resident. The store will also host Andrea Spano, chef and author of a humorous cookbook, "Not Just Desserts on Saturday," will be at Sparta books to autograph and chat from 1-3 p.m. on Nov. 6. The book will be for sale for $25. Spano is the former head chef and co-owner of a fine-food eatery, Steve & Andrea's Restaurant, in Rutherford. She is a graduate of the Culinary Arts Program of New York Restaurant School. In the book, she has combined some tales about herself and family members with various recipes. Spano also provides information about food products. Sparta Books is located at 41 Theatre Center (Route 181), Sparta.
