Sussex County plans St. Patrick's Day events

    The county has planned the following events to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day: St. Patrick’s Day Grand Marshal’s Dinner Monsignor Kieran McHugh is this year’s grand marshal for the sixth annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. A dinner in his honor will be held at the Lake Mohawk Country Club in Sparta on Saturday, Feb. 21, beginning at 6 p.m. with a cocktail hour, followed by dinner, entertainment, and a silent auction. There will be Irish step dancers, bagpipers, and Irish music. Tickets are $75 per person prior to Feb. 1 and $80 thereafter. St. Patrick’s Day Mass and traditional Irish breakfast A Mass will be held on Saturday, March 7 at 8:45 a.m., at St. Jude’s in Hamburg, followed by a traditional Irish breakfast and 50/50 drawing, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Irish Cottage Inn, on Rte. 23 in Franklin. Tickets for the breakfast are $12 per person. St. Patrick’s Day Parade The parade is scheduled to be held on Saturday, March 14, on Spring Street in Newton, with a start time of 11:30 a.m. The parade route will run through downtown Newton, along Spring Street, ending at Memory Park, lasting about one hour.
