Hackettetown Centenary Stage Company and Coyne Enterprises will present the 16-piece Artie Shaw Orchestra at Hackettstown High School on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 7:15 p.m. The orchestra is under the direction of Rich Chiaraluce and will play many of the original arrangements that made this orchestra so popular in the 40s and 50s. The band’s rendition of “Begin the Beguine” was a million seller and the band was one of the top four swing bands, which were Glen Miller, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw and Tommy Dorsey at the time. All proceeds from this concert benefit the Hackettstown High School music program and the Centenary Stage Company performing arts season. Tickets prices are $30 at the door, $25 in advance, $20 for seniors (55+) and $15 for 18 years and under. Tickets may be purchased with cash or checks in the Hackettstown area at these locations: Skylands Community Bank, Hackettstown Trading Post, Inn At Panther Valley, Mama’s Café’ Baci, Prickly Pear Restaurant, Schooleys Mountain General Store and Trinity United Methodist Church office. The high school is located on Warren Street. For more information call the Centenary Stage Company box office at 908-979-0900 or visit www.centenarystageco.org.
