Sussex County — The Falls View Grill, a chain famous for its Texas Wieners, has just opened its first restaurant in Sussex County. Located in McAfee on Andrea Drive, this Falls View Grill is number eight in the chain of owned and operated by brothers Bill and Bob McEntee. "We are really pleased with the number of people who have come in since we opened on Dec. 10. I think that we are pretty well known because of our other locations in Bergen, Passaic and Morris Counties, so people know what they are coming in for," said Bob McEntee. The first Falls View opened for business in 1949 in Paterson but went out of business in the 1980s. Its name came from its location overlooking Paterson's Great Falls on the Passaic River. It wasn't until 1994, when the McEntee brothers bought the recipes from the previous owners, that the Falls View Grill came back to life and continued to grow. "Every order is made fresh. We don't use any microwaves or heat lamps, and we have something for everyone, from vegetarians to meat lovers," said Steve Bedotto, operations manager. Apart for the Texas Wiener, heaped with toppings, that made the hot-dog stand locally famous, the Falls View has a comprehensive menu ranging from fried chicken, burgers and fish and chips to salads and wraps. "We have our own commissary and butchers in Totowa, so food is delivered fresh on a daily basis to all of our locations," added McEntee. Though the grill has been open less than two weeks, Denise Morrello of Vernon was paying her third visit for the famous wiener. "I have been to the Falls View in Little Falls, so I know what I want," she said. "It's definitely a step up from fast food and the prices are very reasonable."The Falls View offers counter service, eat-in or take-out food, and plans to offer a call-ahead service in the near future. The store hours are from 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m. daily. For more information, call 973-823-1101.
