Theater offers winter acting classes

    Sussex — The Tri-State Actors Theater is offering winter acting classes for children and teens and advanced acting workshops for adults. Classes will run from January until March at the Crescent Theater. The advanced acting workshop is for adults with or without acting experience. Under the direction of Tara Bowles, a professional actor and teacher, scene study and acting classes will be developed through the Stella Adler technique. Workshops will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. once a week for 10 weeks beginning Monday, Jan. 19, and ending March 23. The class registration fee is $250. Teen classes are for students ages 13-17 and will be taught by artistic director, actor and teacher Paul Meacham. Students will learn basic skills of acting, work on monologues and two-character scenes, with individual instruction for every student. Winter classes will begin Monday, Jan. 19, with one two-hour session per week. There will be a total of 10 sessions. The final class will be on Monday, March 23. The class registration fee is $220. Children’s classes, for ages 6-12, will be under the instruction of Fran DeCesare, professional actor and children’s acting teacher. Individual attention will be given to each student. The classes will focus on creative dramatics and games. A parents’ day presentation will end the final session. The first class will be Saturday, Jan. 17. Class times are 10 a.m. to noon each Saturday. The six-week course will end Saturday, Feb. 21. The class registration fee is $180. Registrations will be accepted in advance or at the first class meeting. Fees may be paid by check, payable to TAT, credit card or cash. The Crescent Theater is located at 74 Main St., in Sussex.
