NJBG presents Solar System Walk Ringwood — As part of its ‘Garden Saturday’ series, the New jersey Botanical Garden will sponsor a Solar System Walk on Saturday, June 20, at 10 a.m. A $3 donation is requested. Celebrate the summer solstice with a guided walk through the Botanical Garden’s scale-model solar system. The model is an easy, pleasant half-mile walk along the edges of the Great Lawn, with planet signs spaced to create a scale model of our solar neighborhood. On this scale, the Earth is the size of a peppercorn, and the Sun is bowling ball size. You’ll learn about the different planets, and enjoy the Garden’s lovely surroundings at the same time. Wear comfortable shoes and meet at the Carriage House Visitor Center. Rain cancels the event. The Solar System is a permanent exhibit at the Botancial Garden and can be enjoyed year-round. Sponsors of the Solar System Walk include: Sharp Electronics, Mahwah, Deb Manfredonio, West Milford, Dr. Ida Greidanus and Michael Leywood, Ringwood, Dr. Mary Lou West, Montclair, Adastra West, Mahwah, and the North Jersey Astronomical Group, Clifton. New Jersey Botanical Garden/Skylands is located on Morris Road in Ringwood. For an event schedule, membership brochure, directions or more information, please call 973-962-9534 or visit www.njbg.org.
