Thursdays on the Green starts season

Newton — Sussex County Community College’s Thursdays on the Green will open the 2009 season on June 25 with Folk Rock, Zydeco & New Orleans,” with performances by Tom & Sandy and Zydeco A Go-Go, from 6 to 9 p.m. (Rain or shine.) The free concert series has been a summer tradition for hundreds of county residents for seven years. In addition to music, guests will experience a family festival with vendors, artisans and giveaways. Each of the performances will be held on the Connor Green or in the Lakeland Bank Pavilion. A dance floor will be added this year to the front of the stage and guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to enjoy the show. Refreshments are available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds benefiting scholarships at the college as well as a 50/50 drawing which was introduced last season. Shuttle buses will be available in the parking lots to Connor Green during each performance as well as handicap parking on Connor Green.
