Valentine concert by New Jersey State Opera features Lovers and Scoundrels

    Newton — The New Jersey State Opera will perform Lovers and Scoundrels: A Valentine Concert at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Performing Arts Center at Sussex County Community College. Tickets for the performance are $25 and $22.50. For an additional $10 audience members can attend a special Meet the Maestro pre-show reception with Dr. Jason Tramm, to gain insight into the evening’s performance. Tramm has taught on the music faculties of both Rutgers and Drew universities, directed choral and orchestral ensembles and taught courses in conducting. Soprano Julia Kogan, mezzo-soprano Elspeth Kincaid, tenor Andrew Drost and basso verdiano Samuel DePalma are the featured performers, along with Charles Prestinari on piano. Some selections to be performed are the Seguidilla from “Carmen,” La cidarem la mano from “Don Giovanni” and Queen of the Night’s Aria from “The Magic Flute.” Tickets are available at the box office located in the Performing Arts Center building in room 214, by telephone at 973-300-3171 or online at www.sussex.edu.
