Wild music at Wild West City and a Harrison band

BRYAM — Cowboys and horses at Wild West City will be replaced with live music when John Hammel and Serious Fun, Peter Biedermann, and the Mac Blues Band appear at the Golden Nugget Saloon on Saturday, June 6 at 7:30 p.m. In addition, there will be a George Harrison Tribute set featuring Hammel, Biedermann and Anthony LaMort of Mac Blues Band. John Hammel and Serious Fun “is a side project that investigates the rock, soul and pop musical canon bringing to these classic songs fresh insight and interpretive spin,” according to event planners. Hammel has performed at Off-Broadway venues St. Peters Theatre; Westbeth Theatre Complex; John Houseman Theatres and The Producers Showcase, as well as many smaller theaters throughout New York City. He has also appeared in numerous operatic and musical productions throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York as well as Baltimore. Hammel has also performed solo and with his wife Carmen Artis, and with jazz notables Rio Clemente, Regan Ryzuk, Ric Crane, Joe Cocuzza, Lennie Argese, Marty Fogel and many others. Biedermann is a guitarist that has been writing and performing original instrumental music for over 30 years. While his music covers a number of genres in the electronic and acoustic fields, his performance at Wild West City will focus on original acoustic fingerstyle pieces in on various six and 12 string guitars. The Jersey City-based Mac Blues Band, led by LaMort on organ, “is a full-fledged big blues outfit that will knock your socks off,” said planners. Tickets are $15 each, can be purchased at the door.
