Hardyston — The Sussex County YMCA is preparing its Third Annual Family Barbecue Festival to be held Sunday, July 26, from 3 to 6 p.m. (rain or shine) at its Hardyston location, 15 Wits End Road. The event features old-fashioned country barbecue specialties from Sussex County’s own Grill Master Jarrod Cofrancesco of the Homestead Rest in Sparta. The all-you-can-eat menu includes barbecue chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, salads, soft drinks and ice cream. Bakers of all ages are encouraged to bring their own pies for a friendly pie judging contest. “It’s our pleasure to host this family friendly and affordable barbecue for our community,” said YMCA Executive Director David Carcieri, “In this tough economy, we know many families are staying home this summer and perhaps this day of fun can be like a mini-vacation spent with family and friends.” The afternoon will also include music, dancing, a petting zoo, swimming, games and races. Tickets are available now at the YMCA’s Welcome Center. Advance ticket prices for members and non-members alike are $10 for adults; $7 for children (ages 4-15) and children under three are free. Tickets will also be available the day of the event at $15 for adults and $10 for children.
