Hardyston — The Sussex County YMCA will hold a free event for active senior citizens in the area on Tuesday, May 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. “The day is designed to promote the benefits of exercise, nutrition and an active lifestyle for a better quality of life for older adults,” said YMCA’s Executive Director David Carcieri. “In addition to making us feel good, a healthy lifestyle has been proven to help prevent many of the illnesses that affect us as we age, including high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, Alzheimer’s and obesity.” Highlights will include yoga and toning classes, a pool exercise class designed for those with arthritis, a health fair, door prizes, refreshments and more. The event is free for members and nonmembers alike, for participants who pre-register by Friday, May 22. For registration at the door, the fee is $5 and sign-ups begin at 8:30 a.m. The event is funded through a grant from McNeil Consumer Healthcare, the makers of Tylenol Arthritis Pain.
