Academic team wins Tri-State Rotary challenge

    Wantage — High Point Regional High School Academic Team defeated Middletown High School in the semi-finals and Delaware Valley High School in the finals to capture their second consecutive Tri-State Rotary Academic Challenge Championship in the event held April 7. This marks High Point’s seventh victory in the 27-year tournament of teams from around New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. It is also High Point’s most successful Academic Team in memory. Team members are: Tim McEvoy, captain; Dave Smith, Kristen Pulkstenis, Jamie Meyers, Chris VanOrden, Shannon Southard, Cody Weber, Munroe Graham and Eric Pauls. Two debate teams place in top 5 Wantage — High Point’s Debate Team placed two teams in the top five of a Moot Court Debate tournament at Princeton University last week that involved 50 teams from all over the East Coast. The team of Munroe Graham and Sean Post went undefeated in eight debates until losing by a 5-4 decision in the finals to a team in Connecticut. Dave Smith and Cody Weber finished fifth. Jamie Meyers was selected as the top attorney in the entire tournament. Munroe Graham was chosen as the sixth most outstanding attorney as she leaves behind a legacy as, perhaps, the most accomplished debater in High Point history. Team members are: Munroe Graham, Sean Post, Jamie Meyers, Jen VanWingerden, Sarah Cannavale, Brittany Whitehead, Yenddie Lin, Dave Smith, Cody Weber and Emily Slate.
