Adam and Aaron Voelker, twin sons of Sheila Voelker-Jacobus, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. They successfully completed 12 weeks of training designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally. Training began each day at 5 a.m., with a three-mile run and calisthenics. In addition to the physical conditioning program, they spent numerous hours in classroom and field assignments, which included first aid, uniform, combat water survival, marksmanship, hand to hand combat and assorted weapons training, among other tasks. Along with the other recruits, the brother received instructions on Marine Corps core values: honor, courage and commitment and what the words mean in guiding personal and professional conduct. After graduation from Parris Island, the brothers will be stationed at Camp Geiger for school of Infantry. Both Adam and Aaron are 2008 graduates of High Point High School.
