Sparta — The Veritas Christian Academy, presently meeting at the Sparta Evangelical Free Church, celebrated the graduation of its first senior class recently. Veritas opened its doors in 2006 with 15 freshman and seven sophomores. The 2008/2009 school year was the first to accommodate grades 9-12 with a student body of 60. Congressman Scott Garrett challenged the graduates to appreciate the quality education they’ve experienced and to be leaders in college. Joshua Brinkerhoff, valedictorian, and Karisa Vander Groef, salutatorian, addressed the crowd of 200 in attendance.
