Sparta resident Marilee Bennis is currently studying abroad through the Boston University (BU) International Programs office. A Social Studies Education major at BU’s School of Education, Bennis is currently enrolled in the Sydney Internship Program Arts and Arts Administration through the end of the Spring 2009 semester. Steven DeCoite of Vernon was named on the dean’s list for the fall 2008 semester for Rutgers University. DeCoite was also awarded the Jack Kurlander memorial scholarship for Crystal Springs Resort. He is a graduate of Vernon Township High School. Kathleen Villano of Glenwood was named to the dean’s list for the spring and fall 2008 semesters at University of Delaware Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics. She is a 2005 graduate of Vernon Township High School and marketing major. Shaina Catanzarite of Stockholm was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2008 at Simmons College in Boston. She is a freshman a nd an undeclared major. Cynthia M. Lummer of Sparta has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2008 semester at Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, N.Y. Lyndsay LaConti of Stanhope was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2008 semester at Monmouth University in West Long Branch. She is a 2006 graduate of Lenape Valley Regional High School, and is currently a junior majoring in business marketing with a minor in management. She was also recently accepted into the 2009 summer program to study abroad in Florence, Italy. Mallory Clark of Sparta, a 2008 graduate of Pope John XXIII High School, has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2008 semester at Clemson University. Clark is a freshman majoring in landscape architecture. Sparta resident Catie Belardo is interning for 15 weeks at Ink Corp., a design company, as part of her degree requirements at King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Belardo is a junior mass communications major and Spanish minor. At her internship, she designs logos, billboards, and advertisements for various companies. Currently, she is organizing and redesigning materials for an upcoming card show in New York City. Belardo is also the layout editor and a writer for the college’s mass communications department’s monthly newsletter, “The Media Connection.” She is a member of the Environmental Club and plays intramural volleyball and soccer. Brian A. Thompson, a senior at York College of Pennsylvania was selected, among students majoring in criminal justice, to give a presentation to law enforcement professionals at the Academy of Criminal Justice of Sciences convention. Thompson’s topic is identity theft. He formulated his thesis from his experience as an intern with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service in New York City. The convention will be held in Boston in March. Sparta resident Jake Rogers was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2008 semester at Northeastern University in Boston. He is a 2006 graduate of Sparta of High School majoring in business/finance in the honors program. Byram residents Megan Murnane and William Fritzky have been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2008 semester at the University of New Hampshire. Stacey Davis of Lake Hopatcong and Caitlin Studer-Sweetman of Layton were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2008 semester at Springfield College in Springfield, Mass. John Kaschak of Lake Hopatcong and Michael Deutch of Sussex were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2008 semester at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa. Elizabeth Carey Jent of Sparta has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2008 semester at Bentley University in Waltham, Mass. Jennifer Perrone of Sparta has received faculty honors at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn. for the 2008 fall semester. Spencer Scholz of Newton has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2008 semester at the University of Vermont in Burlington. Steven King of Sparta, a sophomore political science major at York College of Pennsylvania, has been named to the dean’s list f or the fall 2008 semester. Five area residents have been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2008 semester at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. They are: Nicholas Castaldi of Sparta, Elaine Kubik of Vernon; Michele Bustamante of Hackettstown; Alexander DeVine of Hopatcong; and Andrew Nelson of Newton. Six Sparta residents were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2008 semester at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. They are: Raffaela M. Bonventre, Kelly M. Chrimes, Lauren E. May, Clare E. Mountjoy, Ellen L. Mountjoy and Nicole C. Wilson. Additionally, Jill K. Harnish and Samuel D. McMullen of Newton were also named to Marist’s dean’s list. Six area students were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2008 semester at Caldwell College in Caldwell. They are: Kevin Gleason and Ryan Gleason of Franklin, Laura Grimm of Stockholm, Samantha Kardell of Hopatcong, Meaghan Norman of Newton and Jamely White of Hamburg.
