Sparta resident Amie Leonard has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2009 semester at The University of Scranton. Sparta resident Krista Bird graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business marketing from Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C. She also served as president of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Jessica L. Siemer of Sparta has been named to the honor roll at Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass., for the spring term. Aleks Erins, a 2007 graduate of Sparta High School, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2009 semester at The College of New Jersey. Five area students were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2009 semester at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Metropolitan Campus. They are: Samantha MacK of Andover; Fay Maturan of Blairstown; Giorgino Macalino of Budd Lake; Kelly Nudelman of Lake Hoptacong; and Oak Ridge resident Christina Toale. Shannon Maguire of Hardyston was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2009 at Champlain College in Burlington, Vt. Anthony Piccirillo of Vernon received the Jules Davids Medal at Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service commencement activities for being the graduating senior in the School of Foreign Service who has written an outstanding senior thesis in history. Piccirillo graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in international history from the Washington, D.C. School of Foreign Service. He received honors in international history for his thesis, “A Vile, Infamous, Diabolical Treaty: The Franco-Ottoman Alliance of Francis I and the Eclipse of the Christendom Ideal.” This fall, Piccirillo is attending Fordham University School of Law in New York. Six area students were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2009 semester at Caldwell College in New Jersey. They are: Kevin Gleason and Ryan Gleason of Franklin; Laura Grimm of Stockholm; Samantha Kardell of Hopatcong; Meaghan Norman of Newton; and Jamely White of Hamburg. Adam Kolakowski of Glenwood has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2009 semester at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y. He is a 2008 graduate of Vernon Township High School and an applied networking and systems administration major. Kaitlin C. Lynch of Lafayette was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Colby College. She is a senior, majoring in English. The daughter of John and Kathleen Lynch, she attended Pope John XXIII Regional High School.
