Mallory Costello was named scholar-athlete of the year at Vernon High School. She received a $600 scholarship from Sussex Bank. Mallory had previously been named athlete of the month for December and April. Mallory was recruited by Castelton State College in Vermont to play soccer for their team. She will be pursing a degree in nursing at Castleton.

Zachary Kansler of Stockholm graduated from Albany Law School at the school's 161 Commencement, held May 11, at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Kansler earned a JD degree from Albany Law School, the oldest independent law school in the nation.

Steven Kulsar graduated with a doctor of audiology degree in clinical audiology from James Madison University during the May commencement exercises.

Jessie Ufferfilge of Highland Lakes has been named to the president's list at James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Va., for the spring semester. Students who earn president's list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of 3.9 or higher. Ufferfilge is majoring in communication sciences and disorders.

Andrew Ryan Troy of Stockholm has been named to the Dean's List at Clemson (S.C.) University for the spring semester.

Troy is majoring in Construction Science and Management.

To be named to the Dean's List, a student achieved a grade-point average between 3.50 and 3.99 on a 4 scale.

Elizabeth A. Sydoryk of Stockholm received a bachelor of science degree cum laude in criminal justice and homeland security studies with minors in pre-law and sociology from Cazenovia College at graduation ceremonies on May 12.

Sydoryk received an award for Outstanding Senior Capstone in Criminal Justice and Homeland Security Studies; is a member of The Junior 1824 Society and was on the spring semester Dean's List.

Allison Margaret Boehm of Sussex received a master of arts in teaching degree from Drew University in Madison on Saturday, May 12 at the university's 144 commencement.

Thomas Wilson of Franklin graduated summa cum laude from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., and earned a bachelor of science in mathematics and a bachelor of science in chemistry (dual degrees), with honors in chemistry.

Lafayette's 177 Commencement was held May 19. Award-winning television and film director, writer, producer and actor Garry Marshall gave the Commencement address to an audience of family and friends gathered under sunny skies on the Quad.

Two local students were among the 93 seniors at Newark Academy in Livingston who received a diploma at the commencement exercises on Sunday, June 10: Conrad Wehner of Branchville received the following awards: Edward L. Behr Award for Excellence in Technical Theater, James H. Blake Mathematics Award, Newark Academy Engineering Award, Newark Academy Head of School Award. He will attend Yale University this fall.

Randall Keur of Augusta will be attending Clemson University in the fall.

The following local students have been named to the Dean's List at The College of New Jersey for the spring semester: Donald Post, a senior Communication Studies major, resident of Franklin; Eden Roberts, a junior Music Education major, resident of Franklin; Katelyn Saxton, a senior Music Education major, resident of Hamburg; Brian Delanoy, a sophomore International Business major, resident of Oak Ridge; Sean Higginson, a junior Finance major, resident of Stockholm; Katherine Miller, a junior Political Science major, resident of Oak Ridge; Kenneth Murphy, a junior Political Science major, resident of Hamburg; Connor Phalon, a senior Political Science major, resident of Oak Ridge; Jordan Rowe, a senior Psychology major, resident of Hamburg; Katherine Warga, a senior Psychology major, resident of Stockholm; Ashley Napovier, a junior Civil Engineer major, resident of Franklin; Michael McLoughlin, a senior Physics major, resident of Oak Ridge.

To achieve this honor, a student must carry 12 or more credits that semester and have a 3.5 grade point average or above.

The following area residents were named to the spring semester Dean's List at University of Scranton: Emily Mossler of Oak Ridge, a junior exercise science major; Emily Belmont of Oak Ridge, a freshman counseling and human services major; Stephanie Romano of Oak Ridge, a freshman accounting major; John Christiano of Franklin, a junior communication major; Michelle Elmuccio of Ogdensburg, a senior community health education major; Kristina Zarra of Hamburg, a junior exercise science major; Allison Zeedyk of Stockholm, a freshman communication major.

Two local students have been inducted into Fairleigh Dickinson University's Phi Epsilon Omega senior honors society. To qualify for Phi Omega Epsilon, a student must have completed 90 credits toward an undergraduate degree, and of these credits, 58 must have been earned at FDU. Aleksandr Sajak of Wantage and a student at Fairleigh Dickinson University's College at Florham; Corey Vanorden of Wantage, also a student at Fairleigh Dickinson University's College at Florham.

Callista Grozalis has been named to the dean's list at James Madison University for the spring semester. Students who earn dean's list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899. Grozalis is majoring in kinesiology.

Erin Hensley of Sussex graduated with a bachelor's degree from Gettysburg College on May 20. Hensley majored in biology.

Aimee Griffin of Sussex has been placed on the Gettysburg College Dean's Honor list for outstanding academic achievement for the spring semester.

Students with a quality point average of 3.60 or higher (on a 4 scale) for a semester's work are placed on the College's Dean's Honor List.

Mark Dillenkofer of Oak Ridge, has been placed the Deans' Commendation List at Gettysburg College for outstanding academic achievement for the spring semester.

Gettysburg College students with a quality point average of 3.33 or higher for a semester's work are placed on the College's Deans' Commendation List.

The following area residents were named to the dean's list for the Spring semester at Quinnipiac University: Chloe Ambler of Oak Ridge; Ashley Chacon-Baker of Oak Ridge; Amanda Kell of Franklin; Christopher Rago of Hamburg.

To qualify for the dean's list, a student must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than C. Full-time students must complete at least 14 credits, including 12 that have been graded A through C in a semester.

Ronika Alston recently passed the Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) exam at Dover Business College. She is a graduate of the Patient Care Technician (PCT) program at the Dover Campus.

Garret Barcheski was named to the Dean's List for the spring semester at the University of New England, Biddeford, Maine. Barcheski is majoring in psychobiology/animal behavior. His is the son of Pete and Deborah Barcheski of Hamburg.

Two local students were named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Md. They are: James Oroho, a sophomore from Franklin, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Oroho, and Elizabeth Wakuluk, a freshman from Oak Ridge, and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wakuluk.
