Irene “Lorraine” Slavin

Irene “Lorraine” Slavin passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at her residence while surrounded by her loving family. She was 84 years old.

Born in The Bronx, N.Y. to the late Herman and Marie (Gophardt) Hoehn, Lorraine had lived in Teaneck and Newfoundland before moving to Montague 24 years ago. She was a member of St. Thomas R.C. Church in Sandyston.

Lorraine was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and was happily married for 65 years. She was a kind, thoughtful, loving and generous woman who enjoyed quiet days with her family and a glass of wine in her hand.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Thelma “Terry” Hartman.

Lorraine is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Walter E. Slavin; her son, James Slavin and his wife Donna of St. John’s, Fla.; her daughters, Laurie Furman and her husband Scott of Wantage N.J., Diane Price and her husband Eric of Hanover, Md., and Gail Collins of Orlando, Fla.; eleven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren with one great grandchild on the way.

Private cremation services have been entrusted to the Pinkel Funeral Home.
