Hamburg resident Paul Joyce, a registered nurse at Chilton Memorial Hospital, has received the New Jersey State Nurses Association’s 2009 Governor’s Nursing Merit Award in the category of “Registered Professional Nurse: Acute Care.” The award was presented by Department of Health and Senior Services Commissioner Heather Howard at a June 4 reception and is only the third time in the hospital’s history that a nurse has received this award. Joyce has worked at the hospital for 10 years as its Emergency Department clinical coordinator. He is also a health service technician for the U.S. Coast Guard’s Atlantic Strike Team. Chilton President and CEO Deborah K. Zastocki meets with him during the awards ceremony.
