Local teachers awarded scholarships to Honeywell's space academy program

    Hamburg — Two local teachers have been awarded a special scholarship to attend the Honeywell Educators @ Space Academy program this summer: Nicole Macaluso, of Oak Ridge, teaches at Bragg Elementary School in Chester. Shannon Jenkins, of Hamburg, teaches at Lounsberry Hollow Middle School in Vernon. Along with nearly 300 other teachers. from 16 countries and 47 states, they will participate in a variety of classroom, laboratory and real-life astronaut training sessions, linked to science and math teaching standards. The program takes place at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala.
