Making music

Sparta High School’s clarinet choir, under the direction of Elana Franklin, performed at the Sussex County Teen Arts Festival. This is an annual event held on the campus of Sussex County Community College, which showcases the talents of teens from Sussex County school districts. Professionals critique students’ work in dance, vocal and instrumental music, drama, visual art, creative writing, and videography. A few weeks after the evaluation and feedback on their musical performance, they will hear whether they have been selected to go to the State Teen Arts level. The students had an opportunity to work with artists from different fields in various workshops throughout the day. These workshops included sculpture, wood carving, a bluegrass band, jewelry making, and countless more.
