Meckert graduates Parris island

Matthew S. Meckert, a 2008 graduate of West Milford High School, recently graduated from the Marine Corp training facility at Parris Island, S.C., and has since achieved the position of lance corporal while training in Oklahoma. Meckert is a skilled sharp shooter. He surprised his family by returning home in time for the holidays. His grandmother, Lorraine Steines, is a recently-retired 911 dispatcher who served the West Milford Police Department for 20 years. “We are all very proud of his desire to serve our country,” said his aunt, Kathi Brown.
