Bonnie Briggs
Bonnie Briggs, 61, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at her residence. Born in Sussex to the late Eugene “Sonny” and Harriet Blackmore, Bonnie had lived in the Sussex-Wantage area for most of her life. She had been a nurse and worked at both St. Clare’s Hospital for more than 25 years and also at Newton Memorial Hospital for over 10 years.
She was very dedicated to her nursing career and often became personally involved with all her patients. Bonnie was always willing to go above and beyond for anyone who needed help and would offer to help anyone who needed it, especially people who needed medical assistance. She was truly a caring woman. Bonnie was a member of the Auxiliary of the American Legion Post #213. She was predeceased by her husband, James Briggs in 1981. Bonnie is survived by her life companion, Elmer “Bucky” Morris, III, of Oxford, NY; her two daughters, Jessica Briggs of Vernon and Jillinda Briggs of Wantage; her two sons, John Briggs and his wife, Dorothy, of Jacksonville, NC and Elmer Morris, IV, of Oxford, NY; her sisters, Charlotte Belcher of North Port, FL, Diane Ford of Wantage,Peggy Blackmore of North Port, FL, Linda Tomczak and her husband, James, of Pine Island, NY, Lisa Lott and her husband, Richard, of Unionville, NY; Connie Feeney and her husband, Raymond, of Roxbury, and Cindy Sistler of Ocala, FL; her three grandchildren, James, Jaydin, and Jordin; her aunt, Eileen DeGroat of the Plumsock section of Wantage; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street, Sussex. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Saturday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Private cremation services will be held at the convenience of the family.
