Carmen Lopez Jaquinto

Carmen Lopez Jaquinto, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at Newton Medical Center. Born in Mexico City, Mexico, Mrs. Jaquinto came to the United States in 1959 and became a citizen in 1996. She had lived in New York City and then The Bronx before moving to Sussex County in 1973. Mrs. Jaquinto was predeceased by her husband, John G., on Sept. 13, 2003; two daughters, Francine on May 9, 2003, and Ruth Lopez on August 27, 2010. She is survived by her son, Jerry Jaquinto of Sussex; her daughter, Lisa Jaquinto McAtamney and her husband, Donovan, of San Diego, California; and her two grandchildren, Curtis Nieves of New York, N.Y., and Cynthia Nieves of Brooklyn, N.Y. Private cremation services were held at the convenience of the family. A memorial mass will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made in Carmen's memory to the Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans, 6001 Gulf Freeway, Bldg. E, Houston, TX 77023.
