    David E. Thomas, age 67, went home to be with The Lord on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at his residence. Born on May 31, 1947 in Paterson to the late Robert L. and Margaret I. (Davis) Thomas, he had lived in Passaic before moving to Vernon in 1975. Mr. Thomas had graduated from Clifton High School, received his bachelor of Theology with a Minor in Missions from Northeastern Bible College and attended William Paterson University, where he obtained his educational credentials. He had started his teaching career at the Sussex Christian School, where he taught for three years and had then been employed at the Salvation Army in Jersey City for two years. Mr. Thomas was an educator for the Sussex-Wantage School System for 36 years and retired three years ago. Mr. Thomas attended the Solid Rock Baptist Church in Vernon and was a member of the Wanderers Car Club. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert J. Thomas. Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Beverly A. (Hazekamp); his son, David A. Thomas of Wantage; his daughter, Jill Thomas of Newton; his brother, Jerry G. Thomas of Augusta; and his three grandchildren, Julia, Eliza, and Adria. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. Interment will immediately follow at Clove Cemetery, Wantage. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
