Don J. Elliot

Don J. Elliot, 84 years, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014. Born in Detroit, Mich., he was the son of the late Hazel (White) and Roy Elliott. Don has been a resident of Vernon for 2 years and prior to that had resided in Leesburg, Fla.

Prior to his retirement, he was a manager for the Sanvik Corp. in Fairlawn, N.J. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy. He was a former member of the Elks Club in Clawson, Michigan. In his spare time he loved to “tinker and fix “anything.

In addition to his parents ,he was predeceased by a daughter Janie Marie, and his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Joan (Oswald) Elliott of Vernon, and his children, Geralynn Trussler and her husband Tony of Villages, Fla., Marilyn Stewart and her husband, James, of Durham, Conn., Charles Elliott of Tavares, Fla., Carolyn Brinster and her husband, Raymond, of Vernon, and Laura Dayon and her husband, John, of Vernon. 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. Memorial donations in his memory would be preferred and may be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
