Douglas Seigle Frech
Douglas Seigle Frech, 79, of Naples, Fla., and Stetson, Maine, passed away peacefully at his home in Maine on Tuesday March 18, 2014. Born March 26, 1934, to Walter and Mildred (Dennis) Frech in Sussex. He grew up in Sussex and attended the Sussex Schools. After high school, Douglas graduated from The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) and Montclair University. His career as an educator and administrator was primarily in Morris County.
As a master woodcarver, Douglas was an active member of the Golden Gate Woodcarvers in Naples, Fla. His many artistic carvings were shared with family and friends. Doug was a voracious reader with a keen interest in history. He loved music from classical to jazz and was an accomplished drummer.
He enjoyed golf at Wilderness Country Club in Naples, Fla., and was a member of Morris County Golf Club. For many years, he was active in the Bonita Springs Elks Lodge.
Douglas was preceeded in death by his sister, Shirley Haffner and his wives, Barbara Bridges and Mary Jane Webster. Mr. Frech is survived by his wife Elinor Halma Frech; children, Eric Frech of Mountain View, Calif., Scott Frech and his wife, Cheryl, of High Bridge, N.J., and Claudia Teetsel and her husband, Jeffrey, of Phoenix, Ariz.; step-daughter, Jackie Marcucci of Gibbstown, N.J.; brother, Bruce Frech and his wife, Betty, of Sussex, N.J.; grandsons, Justin and Brandon Frech, Ryan and Jason Teetsel and Christopher Brangwin as well as many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held Monday March 24, 2014, 10 a.m. at Ferguson Funeral Home 27 Third St. Sussex. Interment will follow at Clove Cemetery, Wantage Twp.
