Duane Eugene Botteicher, 62, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Born to Eugene Victor and Ada Mae Botteicher in Johnstown, Pa., he resided there for many years before moving to Wantage Twp., NJ over 20 years ago.
Duane was a licensed HVAC professional and most recently was service manager for Sander Mechanical Service in Branchburg, N.J., for many years. He was a former parishioner and cantor for St. Monica’s RC Church in Sussex, NJ and a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales RC Church in Vernon Twp., N.J. He enjoyed camping, his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and tailgating in his RV at many NASCAR races. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His greatest joy was having his whole family together.
Duane is predeceased by his mother, Ada Mae Botteicher(nee Jones), father, Eugene Victor Botteicher, stepmother, June M. Thirkell Botteicher(nee Kipp) and a brother, Keith Thirkell. He is the beloved husband for 38 years of Kathleen Botteicher (nee Rayha). Devoted father of Dr. Amanda Latimer and her husband, Christian, of Ithaca, N.Y., Theresa Botteicher and her boyfriend, Ryan Douglas, of Kingston, N.Y., and Daniel Duane Botteicher and his fiancée, Amanda Finck of Wantage Twp., N.J. Loving and devoted grandfather of Gabriela Caeli and Natalia Isabel. Dear brother of Donna Bechtel and her husband, Don, of Akron, OH, Sandy Duffan and her husband, David, of Dover, Pa., Kevin Thirkell and his wife, Toni, of Dallastown, Pa., and Jay Thirkell of Tenn. Cherished by many nieces and nephews.
The family received their friends at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94 (1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon, N.J., on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Francis de Sales RC Church, Vernon, N.J., on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Cremation by Ferguson Funeral Home is private.
