Genevieve A. (Lateer) Connell, often known as “Nan-Nan” or “Miss Genny,” age 88, graduated to her heavenly home on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at her daughter's home in Westtown, New York. Born at home in Branchville on the Hyatt Farm to the late John and Ella Lateer, Genevieve was a lifelong resident of Sussex County. She began her career as a nurse's aid at the former Alexander Linn Hospital in Sussex and retired after 30 years while the hospital was operating as St. Clare's Hospital. She was a former member and Sunday School teacher at the Sussex Wesleyan Church. Miss Genny was a founding member of the Christian Faith Fellowship Church in Franklin, where she was active in many church activities throughout the years. She had a great impact on many lives through her ministry of Bible Studies and personal discipleship. She led many to the Lord because of her overwhelming love for Jesus. She was predeceased by her sister, Velma Butto and her brothers, John Lateer, Jr., Bud Lateer, and Clinton Lateer. Genevieve is survived by her son, William H. Ross of Wantage; her daughter, Cheryl Mitchell and her husband Charles of Westtown, New York; her three grandchildren, Christine(Ted) Fournier, Todd(Tammie) Mitchell, and Heidi(Tom) Mitchell; her four great grandchildren, Alex, Taylor, T.J. and Elizabeth; and her greatly loved nieces and nephews. The family offers special thanks to the staff and residents of Knoll View. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Christian Faith Fellowship Church, 3188 State Route 94, Franklin, NJ 07416. Private cremation services have been entrusted to the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made in Genevieve's memory to the Christian Faith Fellowship Church.
