Gunter Toedtmann

    Guenter Toedtmann, 84 years old, died after a long illness at Newton Medical Center, Newton, N.J., on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013. Born to Frederick and Herta Toedtmann in Buende, Germany, he came to the United States in 1952 settling in Astoria, Queens, N.Y. He then lived in Paramus, N.J., moved to Vernon Twp., N.J. in 1978.

    Mr. Toedtmann served with the United States Army during the Korean War and then worked as a machinist and master mechanic for International Paper Company in Suffern, N.Y., for many years retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Holy Counselor Lutheran Church in Vernon, N.J., and the Wallkill Valley VFW Post No. 8441 in Vernon.

    Mr. Toedtmann was the beloved husband for 58 years of Dolores Toedtmann (nee Munk) of Vernon Twp., N.J. Devoted father of Lore Toedtmann of Glenwood, N.J., Mark Toedtmann and his wife, Cassandra, of Bloomingdale, N.J., and Roger Toedtmann and his wife, Hope, of Sparta, N.J. Loving grandfather of Kristin, Scott, Brian and Kevin.

    The family will receive their friends at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94(1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon, NJ on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
