Guy Fairfield Wyman

    Guy Fairfield Wyman, 56, passed away on Jan. 4 at Abington Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Family members were by his side. Born in Englewood, N.J., on Jan. 31, 1957, Guy was raised in Englewood and attended Dwight Morrow High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where he served for six years.

    He was the second of two sons born to Robert William Wyman and Gloria Frances (Fairfield) Wyman. Guy was a member of the Francis Wyman Association and a direct descendant of Lt. John Wyman who, with his brother Francis, emigrated from Westmill, Hertsfordshire, England and arrived in Massachusetts ca. 1636.

    While in the Navy, he earned his wings and was a helicopter crew chief during the Iran hostage period, ca. 1980.

    Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Guy lived in Abington and nearby Willow Grove for more than 30 years. By trade, Guy worked as a machinist for various companies in the area. One of his greatest pleasures was freshwater fishing.

    His children were always a source of joy in his life. Guy is survived by his son Michael William Wyman of Philadelphia, Pa., and his two daughters, Cara Elizabeth Peterson and her husband, Christopher, of Austin, Texas and Molly Amanda Wyman of Abington, Pa.

    Guy was predeceased by his father, Robert Wyman, in 1997. He is also survived by his mother, Gloria Wyman of Bridgewater and his brother, Chris Wyman and his wife, Agatha, of Barry Lakes/Vernon.
