John Giannantonio, age 76, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, at his home while surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Englewood to the late Nicholas and Angelina (Carucci) Giannantonio, John had lived in Palisades Park before moving to Sussex County. He had served as a policeman for 30 years for the Palisades Park Police Dept. and had retired in 1996. John was a proud veteran, serving in the United States Marine Corps. He was a life member of the NRA and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. He adored his grandchildren and took a lot of pleasure in spending time with them and his family. John especially appreciated his vacation time in Myrtle Beach. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Eileen (Kaiser) Giannantonio; his three daughters, Lisa Worts and her husband, Craig, of Frankford, Denise Hough and her husband, Rick, of Montague, and Maria Sampson and her husband, Brian, of Wantage; his brother, Nicholas Giannantonio and his wife, Marian, of Mahwah; his seven grandchildren, Ricky, Michael, and Nicholas John Hough, Craig John Worts and John Nicholas Worts, and Angelina and Lia Sampson; his nephew, Nicholas Giannantonio, III, and his wife, Maria; and his niece, Dawn Giannantonio. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. Friends may pay their respects to the family prior to the service on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950.
