Mary Lange of Wantage, N.J., loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Wednesday May, 11, at the Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice, Fredon, N.J. Born Mary Elizabeth Miklus, she was the only daughter of Ignatz and Josephine Miklus. Growing up in Brooklyn, N.Y., she went to Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School and attended St. Agnus Church. As a young adult, she worked in the accounting department for Hunter Douglas in Lower Manhattan, and enjoyed traveling with her friends. Mary met her husband, Fred, at a Brooklyn YMCA dance in 1957. They married during a snowstorm in 1958, and raised their family in the Stapleton Heights area of Staten Island. Mary was a parishioner at St. John Baptist De La Salle and Our Lady of Good Counsel until moving to Wantage, NJ in 1998.
Mary was skilled with a needle, and enjoyed creating various crocheted, embroidered, and hand-stitched works. She had an eye for handicrafts and decorative furnishings; and loved opera and classical music, especially the concerts of Andre Rieu. A wealth of knowledge about European and Victorian-era history, Mary was incredibly proud of her Yugoslavian roots and family heritage.
Mary is survived by her husband of 58 years, Fred, of Wantage; her daughter, Diane, of Greeley, Pa., and her son, Robert, and his wife, Denise, of Wantage; and her grandchildren, Brian, Sean, and Nicole.
