    William Hicks Jr. of Port Jervis died on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at home. He was 92.

    Son of the late William J. Hicks, Sr. and Jennie Babcock Hicks, he was born on May 29, 1922, in Maybrook, N.Y.

    He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a trackman, conductor and switchman for the Erie Railroad in Port Jervis. He was a life member of the Roosa-Fleming V.F.W. Post #161, Port Jervis, and a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainman.

    He married Alice June Aldrich Hicks, who pre-deceased him.

    Survivors include five sons, Robert W. Hicks of Summitville, N.Y., James Hicks of Florida, Gerald Hicks and his wife, Najda, of Georgia, Kenneth Hicks of Sparrowbush, William Hicks and his wife, Dawn, of Dingmans Ferry; four daughters, Joyce Thompson and her husband, Robert, of Port Jervis, Cindy Mentz and her husband, Neil, of Boca Raton, Fla., Jennie Malizia of Vernon, N.J., and Carol Ann Green and her husband, Carroll, of Port Jervis; two sisters, Edna Conklin of Huguenot and Gloria Cuddeback of Seabring, Fla., 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

    He was pre-deceased by his son, Anthony Hicks; grandson, Peter Dolshun; granddaughter, Christina Hicks; great-grandson; and two sisters, Jean Goble and Betty Brody.

    Visitation was held Aug. 29 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home in Port Jervis. Funeral services were held Aug. 30 at the funeral home. The Rev. Vincent Odikanaro officiated. Interment followed with military honors at Quarry Hill Cemetery, Rio, N.Y.
